Being so atheist today...............
Religion was born primarily out of the fear of death and the lack of knowledge and/or the inability to answer questions, that before scientific explanation, was presumed only to be the works of the supernatural; beyond the material world.
What are Earthquakes? What are Tsunamis? What are lightening strikes? What's the loud sound after the lightening strikes? Why are my children dying of malnutrition? It must be God's work.
Being atheist, of course, doesn't cure you of fear. I'm as afraid of dying as the next person. However, knowing that there's no proof to suggest that my conciousness/soul/mind will continue to survive after death does comfort me. I'm glad that there's no evidence to support the deluded, wishful thinking, religious theories.
As Christopher Hitchens once said, "Shoot me in the head and I can't carry on like this".
I've long come to terms with the fact that I'll die - it'd be awful not being able to. However, that's no reason to not want to live for as long and as well as possible.
Surely, the people who don't believe in God should have more of a desire to live for as long as possible and live life to it's full, more than the religious? After all, once the whistle blows, there's no eternal extra time, no never ending penalties, no golden goal, no nothing.
Nice example......an atheist to follower
Man 1: Do you go church?
Man 2: No, I avoid it religiously.
Man 1: Really?
Man 2: Swear to God.
ooooffffff............well am worrying getting so agnostic. chal bhai ye tera kaam nahi hai ab so jao.
good night
Prafulla
